Music has played a vital role in my life from a young age, and my enduring passion for it led me to pursue a career in the music industry. As a singer/songwriter, I’ve been perfecting my skills on the guitar and piano since I was eight years old. Three years ago, I took a significant step in my journey by moving to Nashville to immerse myself in the heart of the music scene. Enrolling at Belmont University to study music business has allowed me to deepen my knowledge and expertise in the field. Through internships and the meaningful relationships, I’ve cultivated, I’ve had the privilege of gaining valuable insights and experiences that continue to shape my path in the industry.
With that being said, I have endured numerous trials and errors. I have failed A LOT to get to the place I am today and that is still nowhere near success. There is a lot of pressure placed on succeeding in a city where everyone is talented, and everyone displays different definitions of what that talent means. There are thousands of people who move to Nashville everyday chasing the same dream, yet most people have no idea about the process behind succeeding in the music industry. The music industry is a nontraditional business model and because of that it is changing constantly. This can be both exciting and daunting for anyone wanting to be a part of it. I created Night Cap Nash with the intention of demystifying the intricate processes within the music industry, often known only to insiders. There is a lot of misinformation when it comes to the industry, and I wanted to create a safe space for people to come together and learn, whether they are artists, songwriters, industry and label professionals, or just an average person interested in the many amazing aspects the music industry has to offer.
Through this blog, I will talk about all things music business, including current industry trends and industry news. I will also feature local shows and events that people often know nothing about unless they are a part of the artist and live music community. I’ll be documenting my own personal journey as I navigate my way through the music industry and explore various avenues, sharing both the highs and lows. My aim is to spread authenticity and offer advice that I wish I’d received when I first arrived in Nashville. Nashville is an amazing city filled with rich musical roots, a deep history, and a wealth of cultural enrichment. My goal is to show what truly defines the “Music City” and to broaden people’s perspectives beyond the media portrayal. Before Honky Tonks, there was genuine culture that somehow became lost in all the neon. I am here to bring that culture back, hopefully in a whole new light.
