It was that time a year again, you guessed it the CMA Awards!  The Country Music Association kicked off its 57th Annual awards show and there was a killer lineup this year! The show was held right here in Nashville, Tennessee at Bridgestone Arena. In case you missed it, here is a guide to who was nominated and who took home the iconic glass trophies!

 

Entertainer of The Year

Up first was the entertainer of the year category. The nominees included Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Morgan Wallen, and Lainey Wilson.  Lainey Wilson won this top prize category given out by the CMA Awards with it only being her second year of being nominated! I’d say that is a big honor for the rising country music star!

 

Single of The Year

Next up was the single of the year category.  The nominated songs included “Fast Car” – Luke Combs, “Heart Like A Truck”- Lainey Wilson, “Need A Favor”- Jelly Roll, “Next Thing You Know”- Jordan Davis, and “Wait in the Truck”- Hardy (feat. Lainey Wilson).  The award went to the artists, producers, and mix engineers for Luke Combs, “Fast Car,” a popular cover single to the talented artist Tracy Chapman 35 years after her songs first debut! Luke Combs rendition of the song has been extremely popular in 2023 so it was not a surprise this beloved song won single of the year!

 

Album Of The Year

Next we had album of the year.  The nominees included “Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville”Ashley McBryde, “Bell Bottom Country” – Lainey Wilson, “Gettin’ Old” – Luke Combs, “One Thing At A Time” – Morgan Wallen, and “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat” – Kelsea Ballerini. Lainey Wilson took home the award for this category with her album “Bell Bottom Country.” It was a successful night for Lainey!

Song Of The Year

Next up we had the song of the year category.  Tracy Chapman’s, “Fast Car” won this category. The single was up against “Heart Like A Truck”- Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson, Lainey Wilson, “Next Thing You Know”- Jordan Davis, Greylan James, Chase McGill, Josh Osborne, “Tennessee Orange”- David Fanning, Paul Jenkins, Megan Moroney, Ben Williams, and “Wait in the Truck”- Renee Blair, Michael Hardy, Hunter Phelps, Jordan Schmidt.

 

Female Vocalist Of The Year

 For female vocalist of the year, the nominees included Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Lainey Wilson. Lainey once again took home the award for this category! Another successful win for the talented musician!

 

Male Vocalist Of The Year

It was no surprise that the powerhouse vocalist, Chris Stapleton, was the winner of the male vocalist of the year category. This was the singers 7th time winning the category! The nominees included Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, and Morgan Wallen.

 

Vocal Duo Of The Year

 It was a great lineup this year for vocal duo of the year, but Brothers Osbourne took home the win! The duo was up against a steep competition including Brooks & Dunn, Dan + Shay, Maddie & Tae, and The War And Treaty.

 

Musical Event Of The Year

The nominees for musical event of the year included “Save Me” – Jelly Roll (with Lainey Wilson); Producers: Zach Crowell, David Ray Stevens, “She Had Me at Heads Carolina (Remix)” – Cole Swindell & Jo Dee Messina; Producer: Zach Crowell, “Thank God” – Kane Brown (with Katelyn Brown); Producer: Dann Huff, “Wait in the Truck” – HARDY (feat. Lainey Wilson); Producers: HARDY, Joey Moi, Jordan Schmidt, Derek Wells, and “We Don’t Fight Anymore” – Carly Pearce (featuring Chris Stapleton); Producers: Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, Carly Pearce.  Hardy won this category with his song “Wait in The Truck.”  This award goes to the artists and their producers.

Musician Of The Year

The nominees for musician of the year included Paul Franklin, Rob McNelley, Derek Wells, Jenee Fleenor, and Charlie Worsham.  Jenee Fleenor was the winner of this category!

 

Music Video Of The Year

This award goes to not only the artist, but also the directors.  The nominees included “Light on in the Kitchen” – Ashley McBryde; Director: Reid Long, “Memory Lane” – Old Dominion; Directors: Mason Allen, Nicki Fletcher,“Need a Favor” – Jelly Roll; Director: Patrick Tohill, “Next Thing You Know” – Jordan Davis; Director: Running Bear, and “Wait in the Truck” – HARDY (feat. Lainey Wilson); Director: Justin Clough.  The Winner was HARDY’s “Wait in the Truck,” which also won the category for best musical event of the year.

 

New Artist Of The Year

The last category I am going to cover is new artist of the year.  The nominees included Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney, and Hailey Whitter.  Jelly Roll won this category but had a bad case of butter fingers when holding the award and dropped it! It’s ok, you’re still a winner in our eyes Jelly Roll!
